Spindrift Crafts & Driftwood Mirrors

The fine spray blown by the wind as the waves break onto the shore. It is these waves that bring with them the driftwood that may have been in the sea for many months until high tides, storms and big surf wash it onto the beaches of North Cornwall where it is bleached by sun and wind and formed into unique shapes. It is this driftwood that we collect and after careful storing and drying is used to make the mirrors and other items that we are now offering to you.
All the pieces of driftwood are carefully selected to form a frame without cutting the wood and spoiling the natural shapes, they are then embellished with shells (no imported shells are used) and rope to resemble the way in which the sea leaves them washed up in the crevices of the rocks.

No two items will be exactly the same because of the unique characteristics of each piece of wood and all our mirrors are made with a plywood backing to protect, as far as possible, against breakage. Should an accident happen the backing can be removed and the mirror replaced. Wall fixing plates are fitted to all mirrors and screws are supplied.

Our box frames are created in a similar way with each section containing, mainly, beach finds that are arranged to reflect the sea and beach.

The fish continue the seashore theme and are made from either driftwood or reclaimed timber. The beach huts are made entirely of driftwood and each will be decorated differently.

We hope you enjoy your purchase as much as we have enjoyed creating it for you to bring a little bit of Cornwall into your home.

If you would like to purchase one of the very large mirrors we would recommend that it be collected. Carriage could be arranged at the purchaser's own risk, price on application.

If you are planning a trip to our area we welcome visitors to our small showroom but it would be best to contact us first either by phone or email - we may be on the beach.
